There are many humanitarian relief organizations in the world. Today, more than ever, there is a great awareness of the need in the world and many people want to help. There are organizations that move millions of dollars in humanitarian relief, sending all types of resources in order to alleviate the effects of such need. However, there is something that is still lacking: human resources. Many times we have sadly seen how tons of help never reach their destination because they lacked the workers who would make the aid reach the right hands. This is why Proyecto America was born.
Our organization is not powerful in economic resources and it does not possess great storage facilities filled with supplies, but it is proud of offering one of the greatest needs when times of need arise. With more than 3000 volunteers, Proyecto America mobilizes hundreds of people in each event who make it possible that each ounce of help received reaches a good destination. We are all common people, such as carpenters, construction workers, doctors, hairdressers, students, housekeepers, stay home moms, grandparents, and children; people like you who have decided to make a difference. Our greatest capital is human capital, volunteers who offer their abilities, their money (many times earned with much sacrifice), their time, and what is of most value, their love and service, with such dedication that not even those workers who are paid in many organizations could ever offer. These heroes of the faith give the best they’ve got, and even that which they have not got, so that those who are unprivileged, can get the help they need.
So, throughout all these years, the life stories of people who abandoned their comfort zone and decided to be part of the answer, are many, which gives each volunteer such value. That is why you are so important. Because it is not the same that you get a box of supplies, that the box be accompanied by a hug. Because it is not the same that materials for a better home arrive, that along with the materials, those who will build it also arrive and will take from their own time to build your home and share with your family while they do it.
